The only place that really had any VR room were arcades, and with the decline of arcades, VR just went with the arcade.

VR were expensive. If you wanted to play in a VR game, you had to shell out something along the line of 5 bucks. At that time, arcade games were considered expensive at 50 cents a game, so you can see why VR games weren’t popular.

It’s probably too expensive for the average person to have a VR setup. You need the VR helmet, the controller, the stage, etc.

Whatever happened to “Virtual Reality”?

Question by Lionroot: Whatever happened to “Virtual Reality”?
Almost everyone knows what VR (virtual reality) is from movies, comics, novels, and even in the context of some games. However I remember going to the mall and playing an actual VR game. It was a simple wire frame animation, but it seemed like the future had come. However, since then though, I haven’t seen any thing but articles about developement, and less and less of those. So whatever happened to VR?

It’s still around. One of the biggest uses is for fighter pilot training. Virtual crashes are a lot cheaper than real ones.
